We can overhear conversations everyday when we‘re out and about and can  be surprised by the varying tones of each conversation. We can delight in the whole nature of the engagement that others are sharing, even though we may know nothing of the topics being discussed. But to be engaged with two voices – literary in tune with each other – was a special joy at The Chillingham. Catherine and Gemma are friends, that is clear and they radiate a real ease and delight in each other’s company. They met at a choir and their love of music, skilful harmonics and the graceful blend of their voices, gave their evening wings. It’s great to hear an occasional song, but they populated the whole of their first half with hypnotic harmonies and effortless skill.
Lara Gow’s true changeling story, cleverly chosen for the occasion, added an air of mystery and wonder. We were treated to an evening where their story cried out for music – and we are not disappointed.
